I Know…
© 2002, Rod E. Mc Connell ___________________________
I know who I am And I know where I've been. I know what I've felt And know what I've seen.
I've felt the lash And the sting of their lies, The loss of their love And the hate in their eyes.
I've felt it all, The hurt and the shame I've cried all my tears Yet I am the same.
I've learned to live Through the lies and deceit, Through the cold winter nights Without love and its heat.
Though I've tried to give To those with more need, To be there for those Whose lonely souls bleed.

I've felt it all, The hurt and the shame I've cried all my tears Yet I am the same.
I've suffered their fears And words that condemn. I've heard all their taunts And lived on with them.
I've felt the cold And the loss of a friend. I've wept all alone Through nights without end.
I've felt it all, The hurt and the shame I've cried all my tears Yet I am the same.
I've been at the edge, The ground far below. I've clung to the rail But couldn't let go.
Yet I felt the need For the grace of His love, For His power, His strength That comes from above.

I've felt it all, The hurt and the shame I've cried all my tears Yet I am the same.
I've prayed in the night Alone with my fears. And I buried my heart Along with my tears.
And yet I believed That love would be mine. That it wouldn't hurt, It would happen in time.
I've felt it all, The hurt and the shame I've cried all my tears Yet I am the same.
I know who I am And know where I've been. I know what I've felt And know what I've seen.
I know…
