In my opinion most science writing should be much more than reporting the cold, calculated facts of a situation or phenomenon. Since science is a human endeavor the knowledge gained from science affects how we see the universe and ultimately who we are. To ignore the affective aspects of science is to deny who we are and what we feel about ourselves and the universe in which we live. Thus, science writing should, under the best circumstances, reflect the human perspective.
