Background:
I have been involved in the design, development, production and evaluation of many types of computer-related products including those designed for education, government, non-profit agencies, and corporations.
As with any other type of communication, web-based materials must have goals and objectives, approaches and treatments. The site must have a needs analysis then good design based on the needs of the communicator and the target audience. It must undergo a development process which includes writing, editing, artwork, photography, layout, video, etc., all professionally- related considerations. Web-based materials/components are often related to other media items such as print, audio and video. In such cases, it is necessary to understand how and why the media are to be co-ordinated for maximum effect and efficiency.
Approach:
To produce excellent web sites, it is imperative that a comprehensive, well-planned developmental program be undertaken, followed by professional materials development.
