Rod Mc Connell was born and raised in northeastern Alberta, completed high school there, then attended the University of Alberta where he completed his B.Ed.in sciences. He later completed his M.Ed. in media and communications.
The author was a teacher and then a media consultant for Alberta Education after which he became a self-employed writer and media consultant (media design, development, production, dissemination, evaluation and modification).
He was a member of the original Board of Directors of the Edmonton Space and Sciences Centre.
His interests are many and varied and include sciences, particularly space sciences and astronomy, astronomical history, sociology, psychology, inter-personal communications and problem resolution.
The author also has an intense interest in media and electronic communications, writing, photography, graphics, media creation, composing music, computers and their media applications as well as communications, image processing and creation using computers. He is also extremely interested in nature and nature conservation, retaining land in northeastern Alberta as a nature reserve and supporting the works of nature conservation groups such as the World Wildlife Fund. Human rights is another special interest, and he actively supports human rights for all people.
