Appropriate questions are vitally important to the identification of problems and issues in one's life. They ultimately lead to understanding and resolution. To this end questions are the critical basis for a personal problem solving approach.
With a background in science and science teaching, I know that few people remember or properly utilize the basic steps to problem solving. Thus, I decided to include the 'Problem Solving Model' (see the Introduction).. Though simple, it is quite effective and, when used in combination with the questions, it provides a useful framework that ultimately leads to a program for problem/issue resolution.
Although *Explorer!-G/L is initially a memory-jogger, it is foremost a self-exploration system and problem solving system, aiding in the design and creation of effective strategies for resolution and change.
Since the resolution of problems is defined and limited by the information with which one has to work, I also decided to include a simple 'Information Processing Model' (see Introduction). It provides the essential elements which help the user locate, identify and process information relevant to the issue/problem at hand. Because communication is a vital component of human problem/issue resolution, I have included the 'Tips for Good Communications,' simple but highly effective techniques for communicating well with others.
*Explorer!-G/L has immensely rewarded, enriched and changed my life through its use with my biological and gay family members, friends and others. I sincerely hope that most users will find it to be the same. Rod E. Mc Connell
